The change of seasons has its pros and cons. I am always very excited when spring comes around and brings warm weather our way. The winters are so long and cold around here that I am so grateful to see plants growing and the sun shining. However, the downside is that the weather is constantly switching from one extreme to the other. This past week, the weather spiked up into the eighties. It was so hot that I was forced to fire up my air conditioning system for the first time all year. I soaked up the sun and spent the entire afternoon outside. I got around to some yard work I was behind on, and I even read a book out in the backyard. When I came back in, it had gotten quite late. The day and the warmth had tired me out, and the air conditioning felt so good. I laid and enjoyed the cool temperature, but I guess I got just a little too comfortable! I fell asleep with the air conditioning running on full blast. When I woke up in the morning, the weather had proven to be a fluke. The temperature was back down into the fifties, and my house was completely freezing! Because I had left the air conditioning on, it made the drop in weather significantly worse. That’s why it’s important to be extra careful with temperature control during the change of seasons. I wound up blasting the heat just to compensate for my errors. It is a waste of energy to switch constantly between the heat and the air conditioning. I am looking forward to the summer so that it’s no longer a problem!
